ABOUT US
INTRODUCTION TO KANNADA INFOMEDIA
We at Kannada Infomedia are trying to undertake this project through which we hope to teach Kannada to a few people who do not know the language. Our belief is that living in a particular area becomes much easier and more comfortable if one can learn the language that is native to that place. We also find that the language is a medium through which the culture of the state can be more clearly understood. Hence to really appreciate the culture of our state, one must have a basic command over the language. With this in mind, Kannada Infomedia is making an attempt to help people learn the language, and thereby, learn more about the state and its culture.
OUR WORK
Our methods of teaching the language are through 3 different media.
Firstly, we have wall charts that are placed at certain points in our college, which is the St. Joseph's College. These wall charts will teach, the students of the college, 3 words each day along with how to use them in sentences. This will be accompanied by a fact about Karnataka. These will be changed on a daily basis. The wall chart will also contain some information of a famous person from Karnataka and about a famous place in Karnataka. These will be changed on a weekly basis. This facility is only for the benefit of the students and teachers of the St. Joseph's College. The words that are displayed on the wall chart are also available on the website, for everyone's benefit.
Secondly, we will display presentations in the College. One presentation will be shown every two weeks. These presentations will display the various aspects of Karnataka and its culture.
Thirdly, we have this website, which will help people all over the world, learn Kannada. A large part of what is displayed in College will also be displayed in the website.
We will be holding regular competitions in the college to monitor the progress of students in their attempts to learn Kannada. These competitions are also exclusively for the students of St. Joseph's College.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The project provides an opportunity for the non-Kannada speaking community, who do not have the necessary sources to learn Kannada. The services provided are also free of cost and hence encourage a more involved and thorough learning process. Our online activities will help propagate the language to various people who do not have access to our other activities.
OUR TEAM
We are a dedicated team led by the Project manager, Vibin. V and Deputy project manager Aniruddha. There are a few volunteers who work under the manager. The project is being conducted under the watchful eyes and guidance of the HOD of the Kannada department, Dr. Vijayaraghavan and with the invaluable support of our principal, Rev. Dr. Fr. Ambrose Pinto.
